Man on a mission: Dereck Chisora aims to win the European heavyweight title against Edmund Gerber
Dereck Chisora plans to dispatch
Edmund Gerber to win the European heavyweight title before setting his
sights on the Klitschko brothers.
The
Londoner faces Gerber for the vacant title at the Copper Box Arena on
September 21 alongside British stars Billy Joe Saunders, John Ryder,
Frankie Gavin and Paul Butler.
And
after back-to-back victories over Hector Alfredo Avila and unbeaten
American Malik Scott, Chisora plans to catapult himself back into world
title contention.
'Beating Gerber is another step
closer to the Klitschko brothers and nothing is going to stop me
winning the European title,' he said.
'I'm fit, lean and mean and ready to do the business against Gerber who is a good fighter, but not in my class.
'I really want do a great job on him, really smash him up and show that I deserve a shot at the Klitschkos.
Impressive victory: Chisora beat the previously undefeated American Malik Scott
'The titles are great, winning
the European belt will mean I’ve won the big three along with the
British and Commonwealth, but the world title is the one I want.' Tough
German Gerber has won 23 fights with 14 knockouts and his sole loss was
on points to Michael Sprott last December.
He
has fought in Britain before, stopping Colin McKenna in the opening
round with a body shot at the Manchester Arena in November 2010.
